Who is David Bennett ?

David Bennett is a New Zealand politician.

In the 2005 election, Bennett stood as the National Party's candidate for the Hamilton East seat. He was successful, defeating the incumbent MP, Dianne Yates of the Labour Party.

David Bennett is 35 years of age and is the new constituent Member of Parliament for Hamilton East.

David was born in Hamilton and attended St John’s College in Hamilton. David studied at at Victoria University of Wellington, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration. He then worked for an international accountancy firm, KPMG, in Auckland and then undertook a sucessful career in the dairy industry.

David’s primary focus will be serving the constituents of Hamilton East. Hamilton is a rapidly growing city and faces the challenges of a major metropolitan area. David intends to be an advocate for the city and its people.

David has a particular interest in transport, education and economic issues. He is the associate transport spokesman for the National Party and a member of the Transport Select Committee.

David enjoys physical exercise. His interests include soccer, running, tennis and spending time with his family and friends.
